Chulucanas Vase
Handmade in Lima, Peru

Price $45.00

In Chulucanas, a small town on the north coast of Peru, local potters have been creating unique clay items for centuries. The inhabitants of the town descend from the Tallenes, the ancient pre-Columbian people that inhabited this region. They developed the negative, or reverse technique, ceramics, displayed today in some museums under the name of Vicus pottery. Chulucanas pottery is unglazed. Due to the handcrafted nature of the ceramic vase, there may be irregularities in the waterproofing coating applied to the interior. For this reason, it may not be 100% watertight. The Chulucanas Vase is ceramic with handles. Each vase is 9” d x 11” h and weighs 85.25 ounces.
